How it works
What is a practice-a-thon?
Students set practice goals for a 3 week period, starting April 7, and collect pledges from sponsors to encourage them to reach those goals. The more they practice the more money they raise.
Why a practice-a-thon?
The practice-a-thon is a fundraising effort with the added benefit of students setting and reaching musical goals. Teachers and parents alike realize that practicing is an extremely important part of a child’s music education. In addition, the money raised will be invested right back into our music students, and families in our SJSM community.
How do I collect pledges?
Students raise money from sponsors who support their music education. Sponsors are people like friends and family who care about your education - PARENTS, GRANDPARENTS, AUNTS or UNCLES, FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS are all people who are supportive of your practicing efforts! Ask if they would like to sponsor you to practice and help raise money for our SCHOLARSHIP program. Turn in cash, checks, and pledge sheet by May 17 at noon to be eligible for prizes. Credit cards pledges can be made online by clicking here.
What are the options for pledging?
FOUR ways to make a pledge:
1. Sponsor a flat total amount.
2. Pledge an amount for minutes practiced.
3. Pledge a flat amount for every day the student meets their daily practice goal.
What will the money be used for?
The money that we raise will provide scholarships and remove obstacles, to help families access music education, and support music education in our community -- expanding access not only at SJSM-SPCM, but touching lives long-term, from the benefits of arts access.
