Students set practice goals for a 3 week period, starting April 22, collecting pledges from sponsors to encourage them to reach their practice goals. The more they practice the more money they raise. Our goal is to have every participant collect at least $30 in pledges. Keep track of your pledges and practice on the pledge sheet provided.
The Practice-athon is a fundraising effort with the added benefit of students setting and reaching musical goals. Teachers and parents alike realize that practicing is an extremely important part of a child’s music education. In addition, the money raised will be invested right back into the school and into our community.
Students raise money from sponsors who support their music education. Sponsors are people like friends and family who care about your education - PARENTS, GRANDPARENTS, AUNTS or UNCLES, FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS are all people who are supportive of your practicing efforts! Ask if they would like to sponsor you to practice and help raise money for our programs.
Turn in cash, checks, and pledge sheet by May 17 at noon to be eligible for prizes. Credit cards pledges can be called in : 651-690-4364, or paid online via GiveMN.
FOUR ways to make a pledge:
1. Sponsor a flat amount. (Can be collected at time of pledge!)
2. Pledge an amount for minutes practiced. For example, a student practices for 20 minutes a day for four weeks, which is 560 minutes.
If you sponsored this student .01 cents per minute, you would pledge $5.60.
3. Combination pledge. For example, you could make a flat donation of $5 and a pledge of .01 cents per minute of practice.
4. Pledge a flat amount for every day the student meets their daily practice goal.
The money that we raise will be used to provide more scholarships, more outreach concerts, and more support of music education in our community -- expanding access not only at SJSM, but touching lives throughout the Cities.
All participants turning in a completed pledge form and minimum of $30 in pledges by May 17 will receive a prize. Special prizes will also be awarded to the student who practices the most, the top studio and teacher (minutes of practice averaged between all the students in the studio), and the student who brings in the most in pledges. Awards will be presented at Showcase Night (May 18th at the History Center).
