Cello

MATTHEW DOSLAND began studying the cello at the age of 8. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in music from Luther College under the tutelage of Dr. Philip Borter; then continued his education with Richard Hirschl at The Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University where he received his Master’s degree in cello performance. Matthew has a passion for chamber music having participated in several summer festivals, most notably the Northern Lights Chamber Music Institute under the direction of Young Nam Kim and Ariana Kim as well as the International Music Festival of the Adriatic while studying with Tulio Rondón. Performing new works is very important to Matthew and he enjoys working closely with composers to bring their works to the stage, most notably Austin Gray Williams and Julian Kwoun. Since moving back to Saint Paul, Matthew has performed at Wooddale Church, as a substitute with the Bloomington Symphony Orchestra, and in the pit orchestra for several productions at Lyric Arts of Anoka. Matthew currently resides in Saint Paul, Minnesota where he enjoys cross-country skiing and going to the opera.
