Oboe

CRYSTAL HALL is a St. Paul native who spent ten years teaching and playing oboe in Chicago, IL. In addition to teaching oboe at St. Joseph’s Music School, she also teaches at Lake Country School in south Minneapolis, working with students from age 3 to third grade, at MacPhail Center for Music in the early childhood department, and through the Hill-Murray Pioneer Pathways band and orchestra program. Ms. Hall is active in the arts education community as a presenter and consultant. 

As a performer, Ms. Hall is a regular substitute with the Minnesota Orchestra and freelances around the Twin Cities. She has appeared as a guest musician with the Louisiana Philharmonic, the Elgin (IL) Symphony, the Florida West Coast Symphony,  the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra, Banff Centre, and the Round Top Music Festival.  She holds degrees in oboe performance from the Oberlin Conservatory (B.M.) and the University of Texas at Austin (M.M.). When not teaching music, Crystal loves to sing with her two daughters, play boardgames with her husband, and have adventures with her daughters’ Girl Scout troops.
